It aims to provide innovative training and development that sees them quickly deployed building a more able and flexible workforce and driving transformation of the service.This grant provides seed funding for Police Now to design and develop a National Detectives Scheme which will support policing to respond to the national shortfall in detectives as highlighted by HMICFRS in the 2017 Effectiveness report. HMICFRS suggested that a national response should be sought and the National Policing Lead for detectives and College of Policing are supporting the development of this scheme to ensure national standards are met and recruits are well supported from training through to frontline operations in forces across the country once the programme is rolled out.
