Our life skills programme, RoadCode, teaches participants about road and personal safety and encourages safe behaviour in and around cars. It supports topics of road safety and reducing road traffic accidents and other police related matters such as car meets etc. Through this programme young people have the opportunity to develop and undertake a social action project for their community, most recently local young people created a video series project highlighting issues specifically targeted at younger drivers like speeding in our communities and using phones behind the wheel. C, who was involved in the social action programme and helped to develop the idea, felt it was really important to address speeding, particularly in rural and small communities and near schools and highlighted that "everyone needs to learn about road safety". Getting young people involved in their local communities helps to strengthen community relationships and develop better shared activity between adults and young people.
