THE SOUTH OXFORD ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND CIO

Close to Oxford City centre, the South Oxford Adventure Playground (SOAP) provides a well equipped, free, open access play area for all children. Supervised by playworkers, it's open at Easter, summer holidays & half-terms, & after school in the summer. Children aged 7 upwards can register to visit without a parent/carer. Approx 400 children register per year, and about 7,000 child visits occur.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • Spending has increased over the last 3 years relative to the previous period
  • There have been no material income shortfalls in recent years
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Although this charity works with volunteers it does not have a Volunteer Management policy
  • This charity does not have a Conflict of Interests policy
  • Over half the Board have joined recently

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Accounts have been filed late on 3 occasions over the last 5 years and the current period appears to have been extended
