By providing financial literacy skills; the project aims to enable participants to better manage their finances and improve their financial situation. This 18-month project runs social groups for older people living across Newcastle and Gateshead who are also refugees, asylum seekers or migrants. Sessions are led by young women from this community, who are also local parents, and offer a chance to chat and practice English speaking, share skills and knowledge and offer intergenerational support and connections. There is a weekly conversation club, and another session focused around cooking and eating together. Feedback is gathered both formally and informally and participants have a chance to review and change activities.
