BRAMPTON YOUTH GROUP

The project will enable the youth group to continue to deliver weekly centre based and outreach activities, summer activities and workshops. The aim is to bring young people together, make new friends and become involved in the running of community events.

The expected outcome is that women/girls will have the confidence, knowledge and skills to forge new bonds and build new social networks with access to activities, advice and training, Building on our pilot scheme girls, young women and childrens lives will change and improve by giving them affordable access to activities and facilities which they have chosen to do. COOK & EAT & BREAKFAST CLUB: Young mums and women with limited networks will no longer feel isolated from the wider community and will have increased social circles, easy access to job advice/support whilst making friends and building support networks, gaining skills for life around budgeting and healthy eating that will continue after the project. We have found that a massive barrier for women to participate is lack of access to child care and services that fit in with school and work so by offering activities that fit around the women will improve their lives, social networks and skills. We will also use these sessions to set up other activities identified by them giving women a voice, skills and confidence that will also impact on other parts of their lives. DRAMA & GIRLS WORK: young women will have more confidence and better communication skills to tackle issues that are impacing on their lives drama is an effective vehicle to build confidence and address issues , through role play we are able to explore feelings around emotions and fitting in, its a safe space to express yourself and to get girls talking and coming up with solutions. INTERGENERATIONAL WORK: The other activities such as the movie night and quiz nights will give young people and families acess to activies and the opportunity to build networls outside of thier peer group, bringing communities together and open up new opportuties,

The group will deliver advice and guidance sessions for hard to reach young people in the area. This will improve local youth provision and encourage young people to make positive life choices.
