Raising awareness members of the public, volunteers and key workers in Colchester have a better understanding of how dementia affects people3. Building capacity improving the capacity of the community to support each other and provide relevant dementia services is improved4. Improving diagnosis people with dementia are able to get a timely diagnosis, develop coping strategies within their communities5. Increasing support people with dementia and their carers are better supported6. Improving access people with dementia are more able to live full lives and avoid social isolation

This project provides flexible, reciprocal volunteering exchanges between neighbours and other local organisations. Its aim is to target the social isolation faced by older people by providing community-based support, and improving life skills for disadvantaged individuals. Older people will be supported to live independently by volunteer-led home help services such as gardening and cleaning, IT skills to shop online, and transport to regular social activities.
