This two-year project provides fortnightly social sessions to support local people in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, who are socially isolated, have mild depression, anxiety or other long-term health conditions, and are long-term unemployed. Activities are delivered during sessions, such as arts and crafts, games and quizzes, and participants also have the chance to have therapeutic treatments. The project seeks to enable participants to make friends and gain confidence and improve their self-esteem. Participants are able to shape the project and choose activities through discussions at meetings and via a suggestions box and evaluation forms.
