How do they operate?

Living Well Course

Objectives: To help people manage the ways that cancer has affected their life

Intervention period: Two day course

Beneficiaries: All people over 18 years of age with cancer and their supporters

Description: The Living Well course allows participants to discover simple ways to eat well, manage stress and stay active to support their ongoing health, giving them a greater sense of control over their well-being. The course is a fully-catered, two-day residential at Penny Brohn’s National Centre outside Bristol. It gives people the chance to meet experts and spend time with people in a similar situation. Participants leave with detailed plans for change and it allows them to carry on friendships made to support them afterwards

How effective are they?
Commentary: *Penny Brohn use the MYCaW (Measure Yourself Concerns and Wellbeing) questionnaire for follow up surveys. This was developed by Dr Charlotte Paterson at the University of Bristol and is a validated, person-centred outcome measure, designed specifically for the evaluation of cancer support services
