This 18-month project is an extension of an existing scheme run by Stepping Out Theatre. It delivers music workshops and a range of other musical activities to long-term mental health service users in Bristol, including small group tuition and the opportunity to perform live. The project offers a safe space for participants to connect with others in their community and where they can build a supportive social network, confidence, and self-esteem as well as creative and life skills. Participants are able to shape the sessions through regular feedback.

This two-year project provided two weekly music workshops and a range of other musical activities including rehearsing, performing and recording music at various locations around inner-city Bristol. The groups support long-term mental health service users, frequently with drug or alcohol problems, to build confidence, self-esteem and new skills as well as creating supportive social networks and a community. The project provides a safe space in which participants can make music together and also offers a limited number of individual tuition sessions each week. Participants can offer feedback at the end of all activities.
