THE SUMMER CAMPS TRUST

The Trust's mission is to promote and encourage the development of well-run residential summer camps in the UK, so that many more British children and young people can take part in summer camps and by spending time in happy communities in the context of a good holiday benefit their self-confidence, social skills, creativity and positive attitudes, as well as making them happier.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been very successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • The charity has received modest backing from a grant maker

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Although this charity works with volunteers it does not have a Volunteer Management policy
  • This charity does not have a Conflict of Interests policy

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Accounts have been filed late on 2 occasions over the last 5 years and the current period appears to have been extended
  • There has been a change of accounting period recently, so trends may be hard to determine
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
