Our sport4integration project is to welcome 50 primarily young refugees, unaccompanied and adult asylum seekers. This is to directly engage with them within 48h from arrival and build the bridge to settle in their new community. Refugees already living in the city together with local residents will foster the effective acceptance of refugees to be welcomed. This project is to ensure that every individual benefit from four stages programme over 10 weeks to help gain confidence, settle and kick start rebuilding a new life: _x000D_
1.Welcome & be Active, 2.Befriending & Mentoring, 3. Connect , 4.Futures_x000D_
S1: The Red Cross & Social Services will send us all new arrivals. Access in the project through regular football, futsal and healthy living sessions. _x000D_
S2: The person will be befriended and have a mentor. Expected outcomes are rebuild self-esteem, confidence and prepare them to engage with the wider community and other support available._x000D_
S3: Project workers, befrienders and mentors will build bridges between individuals and their entitlements and other agencies._x000D_
S4: Capitalised on trust to empower supported participants to take steps toward their future aspirations (e.g: academic English toward university; volunteering; training courses)._x000D_
The befriending will bring both cultures together once a month where they will each cook traditional dishes with the view to promote a better understanding of cultures. This project is a reflection of our goal to bring people together. Councillor Davey once twitted: A different sort of leafleting tonight for @PlymouthHopeFC THE most inclusive club in the world. All ages welcome.
