NEATH PORT TALBOT CHILDREN'S RIGHTS UNIT 

Neath Port Talbot Children?s Rights Unit (CRU) exists to make the UNCRC a reality for children, young people and their families. The CRU provide opportunities and support for Children and Young People aged (0-18 years old) to develop the confidence and skills to understand and exercise their rights and responsibilities and aims to advance the education of the general public in Childrens Rights.

Objectives

(1) TO PROMOTE CHILDRENS RIGHTS (AS SET OUT IN THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD) BY ANY OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:- MONITORING ABUSES OF CHILDREN?S RIGHTS;- RESEARCH INTO CHILDREN?S RIGHTS ISSUES;- PROVIDING TECHNICAL ADVICE TO GOVERNMENT AND OTHERS ON CHILDREN?S RIGHTS MATTERS;- COMMENTING ON PROPOSED CHILDRENS RIGHTS LEGISLATION;- RAISING AWARENESS OF CHILDRENS RIGHTS ISSUES;- PROMOTING PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR CHILDRENS RIGHTS;- PROMOTING RESPECT FOR CHILDRENS RIGHTS AMONG INDIVIDUALS, THE PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND VOLUNTARY SECTOR.(2) TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES, SUPPORT, ADVICE AND ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 0-25 YEARS OLD WHICH DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS, CONFIDENCE, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS.(3) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN CHILDRENS RIGHTS (AS SET OUT IN THE UN CONVENTION OF THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD, RIGHTS OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS (WALES) MEASURE AND OTHER RELEVANT LAW, STATUTORY AND NON-STATUTORY GUIDANCE).
