The funding will be used to help continue the service by paying for overheads salaries and sessional staff costs. SCAFT provide social emotional mental physical and educational support to carers and their families in the Rayleigh and Rochford areas of Essex. It provides a range of services and activities for young carers including respite groups one-to-one support in schools a ‘passport’ scheme for young carers so they don’t have to explain their personal circumstances to individual staff members and training and awareness sessions.

It will aim to improve relationships between young carers, their families and their peers. Activities will include educational and recreational including homework and peer support alongside sports, and arts and crafts. They will receive information on personal health and substance misuse and staff will be available at all times for carers to talk to.
