£110,200	21/06/2021	As an organisation who are part of the Nature Recovery Network, we have the vision and drive to improve and maintain 2 local wildlife habitats.Biodiversity will be increased, people will be educated ....more As an organisation who are part of the Nature Recovery Network, we have the vision and drive to improve and maintain 2 local wildlife habitats.Biodiversity will be increased, people will be educated and engaged, and jobs will be created; with the overarching aim of ensuring the project is sustainable.Embedded in this process mental health and well-being will be improved.We have two sites that we are looking to improve and manage sustainably; a 10-acre wet grassland with marshy scrub area, and a 200-acre mixed woodland, which contains areas of lowland acid-heath, which is a particularly rare habitat. Both lie within urban settings.We will set up a local volunteer group of older, socially isolated people, a group for people with mental health issues and encourage school and university groups to get involved in the project. There will be practical physical management of the sites, ongoing ecological surveying work, tree planting, clearance, boardwalk, and bird screen construction, pathway construction and lowland heath restoration.We will employ a project lead, a ranger and create 3 environmental apprenticeships, 2 following on from the Kickstart scheme.We are ready to go, and have a proven track record.
