TO RAISE FUNDS, AND INVEST SUCH FUNDS APPROPRIATELY, SO AS TO AID IN THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION BY PROVIDING BURSARIES TO MEET THE FEES OF THE CITY OF LONDON SCHOOL (THE SCHOOL) FOR ANY BOY WHO HAS GAINED ADMISSION, BY PASSING THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, TO THE SCHOOL BUT WHO WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE FEES. PROVIDING THAT IN THE OPINION OF THE HEADMASTER OF THE SCHOOL ANY SUCH BOY HAS SHOWN THE CHARACTER AND POTENTIAL TO BENEFIT FROM THE EDUCATION PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL.
