The funded schemes will expand access for children and young people aged 25 and under to local services to support their mental health and provide early intervention for those at risk of mental health problems.The fund will enable these diverse projects to reach more young people, with an emphasis on improving access to support outside of NHS services, including for groups such as those from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.

The project will use the funding to deliver its Family Therapy project. Through this work it aims to improve the lives of families within the local community who experience a range of disadvantages that negatively impact their mental health and wellbeing. The group will address this through a combination of systemic family therapy for parents and their children and shorter-term family work.

The project will work with children and young people who are presenting a range of issues during Covid-19 including the bereavement of a family member an increase in domestic violence increased alcohol use leading to violence and/or neglect within the home and greater tension brought about by loss of family income due to redundancy or furlough (which in extreme cases has put the family home under threat).
