An 18-month project offering fortnightly advocacy groups for adults with learning disabilities in Great Yarmouth. The group provides the opportunity to engage with self-advocacy, a user-led way of working which builds skills, develops confidence in speaking up and builds self-esteem. The group provides a safe space for people to practice decision and choice-making as well as providing a valuable opportunity for peer support. As well as running their own group, members also develop a quarterly ‘What’s On’ accessible guide and write and deliver training for other people with learning disabilities.

This two-year project supports adults with learning disabilities from Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and surrounding areas, to develop and run their own Advocacy Group. Members have control of the group's focus, activities, topics covered and how they want the group to develop and run. They learn new skills, build their confidence and make friends in a supportive environment. The group supports them to access local services and speak up to their local MP and policy makers about issues that concern them in the community and effect positive change.

This two-year project is a weekly user-led community office skills group for adults with learning disabilities in Diss, Norfolk and surrounding areas. The project uses a working office environment to support people with learning disabilities to learn new skills using peer support, which encourages a better understanding of each other’s needs. Activities are focused around improving their literacy and numeracy, building connections with the local community and increasing their confidence and self-esteem through positive relationships. Participants have developed this project idea after taking part in a pilot project and will continue to shape delivery through regular ‘talk and review’ sessions and becoming part of the user-led committee that will steer the project.
