HAMMERSMITH UNITED CHARITIES

Who they support

HUC exists to: a) operate almshouses, sheltered housing for those in need within the area of benefit; b) use its 'relief in need' power to alleviate poverty within its area of benefit.

Grant criteria

We support the 95,000 people living in the northern part of Hammersmith and Fulham through: Sheltered housing: We provide homes for life for local older people in affordable almshouses. Grant-giving: We invest in the future through our grants programme for local organisations. We give £400,000 each year through our grants programme. We fund small, community led organisations delivering services or creating change for good in Hammersmith. Community action: We raise the voice of our community to make it stronger. We help bring together partnerships for the benefit of the local community, advocate on behalf of the organisations we support, and run our own community action projects.

Grant details

Grant making We invest in the future of our community through our grants programme. We give grants to local organisations supporting people who live in our area of benefit. Who is eligible for a grant? Your project can be one-off or ongoing, but we’re most interested in the difference you will make to local people. We are particularly keen to fund smaller, local organisations with a strong connection to their beneficiaries and a good knowledge of the local area. You should be supporting one of our priority areas: Meeting basic needs (food, shelter, advice etc) Work with families and children (supporting parents, education, play, transition points, vulnerable children) Countering isolation (in any group and for any reason) Building confident individuals and communities We award a total of £400,000 each year, with grants made in October, January and May.
