Objectives

4.1 The objects of the Company are:- (a) to promote and advance for the public benefit the arts, culture and education by the promotion and encouragement of the art of the moving image, including film, television and related media, and by promoting knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the art of the moving image in its artistic and cultural aspects, including (without prejudice to the foregoing generality):- (i) the exhibition of cinematographic films, electronically reproduced moving images and related media, howsoever reproduced and projected, (ii) to organise, participate in and promote appropriate festivals in Edinburgh or anywhere else, in particular the Edinburgh International Film Festival or other suitable events, having primary objects wholly or partly similar to those of the Company, (iii) the provision of any support of facilities, institutions and organisations as can provide the public with the widest possible access to the art of the moving image, such facilities, institutions and organisations having primary objects wholly or partly similar to those of the Company, (iv) the preservation of materials of historical significance relevant to the art of the moving image, and (v) the provision of information and advice on and education about the art of the moving image. and (b) to promote such similar charitable purposes, objects or institutions in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit.
