    Objectives

    2.1 The advancement of heritage and the traditional textile crafts of the Western Isles through establishing a spinning mill and training/visitor centre to increase activity, opportunity and knowledge within the sector. 2.2 The advancement of education through providing information and training in textile skills and practice and through outreach educational programmes for people of all ages within the wider community, to include exhibitions, workshops, traineeships, educational events and research into all aspects of traditional and contemporary uses of wool and the publication of such research results. 2.3 The advancement of community development through the educational and training opportunities set out in 2.2 above, and through increase in economic activity including provision of employment and of unique locally sourced products and materials to the crafts and agricultural sectors and the wider community. 2.4 The advancement of environmental protection through the development or improvement of new and traditional uses of natural resources particularly wool, employing sustainable, low carbon production technologies and local sourcing .
