    The objects of the Band shall be to advance the arts (firstly) by promoting a wider interest in brass band music by giving instruction in brass band instruments and giving public performances and (secondly) by providing musical entertainment for the pleasure and enjoyment of the community of Galashiels and the surrounding area.
