Objectives

The objects of the Association are:- 3.1.1 The advancement of education of students at the University of Edinburgh by representing, supporting and promoting the interests, health and welfare of students within the University and within the wider community, and by promoting student participation in, facilitating, co-ordinating and developing, the services, projects and activities of the Association. 3.1.2 The advancement of the arts, culture and science and the organisation of recreational activities through the services, projects and activities of the Association. 3.1.3 The advancement of community development within the University and within the wider community through student participation in the Association and its services, projects and activities, and by facilitating the involvement of students in the wider community. 3.1.4 To promote and support such similar and other charitable purposes, objects or institutions and in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit. The expressions 'charitable purpose' or 'charitable object' shall mean a charitable purpose under section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts and a 'charitable institution'shall be interpreted accordingly.
