    Objectives

    The objects of the society shall be:- (a) to encourage gifts of books, prints, manuscripts and other items of interest to Aberdeen University Library ('the Library') and donations of money. (b) to provide funds from which to acquire for the Library rare and valuable books and other items, such as Aberdeen University might not be able to purchase from its own resources. (c) to promote interest in the Library, whether by organising, or providing funds to the Library for the purpose of organising exhibitions, lectures and publications or cataloguing or conserving material held by the Library etc. and (d) to make funds available to the Aberdeen University Development Trust to help fund (1) the building and equipping of exhibition areas within the Library, (2) providing research facilities for scholars studying the Library's special collections and (3) providing other such facilities which promote the Library and its use.
