    Objectives

    The Income of the Fund shall be applied in the discretion of the Trustees annually or from time to time in giving grants, awards or prizes for the particular purposes below mentioned, and in so far as not thus applied in any year shall in the Trustees' discretion be carried forward all income of any subsequent year or wholly or partially accumulated with capital. The particular purposes for which such grants, awards or prizes may be given as aforesaid are: (Primo) to advance the education of any person or persons of either sex not exceeding twenty years of age resident either at the time or formerly in the Parishes of Inner-leithem, Traquair or Walkerburn and (Secundo) to encourage such original research work in the field of Medical General Practice or Community Care on the part of any family doctor or family doctors in Scotland as may be approved by the Research Committee of the Royal College of General Practitioners as contributing to the advance of general knowledge in Medicine or Community Care and thus being of benefit to the public.
