For women to gain an understanding of domestic abuse in all forms including emotional and psychological, physical, financial, sexual and coercive control. For women to know how to access help and support around domestic abuse. For women to have an individual safety plan and to understand risk levels. For women to have protective orders in place if needed e.g. non-molestation orders. For women to have access to good quality support and advocacy at court in criminal and civil proceedings. For women to understand and identify tactics used by perpetrators and how to spot early signs of control. For women to understand the context of domestic abuse in society and our communities including gender inequality and structural inequalities. For women to understand self-esteem, how it affects and is affected by our lived experiences and how we can build our own self-esteem. For women to understand passive, aggressive, manipulative and assertive behaviours. For women to recognise what triggers their emotions and how they can deal appropriately with them. For women to understand the psychological effects of domestic abuse on themselves and their children. For women to recognise the cycle of abuse, Stockholm syndrome and the impact on victims. For women to look forward in their lives, identifying future goals and how to achieve them. For women to feel able to assert their rights individually and collectively. For women to reflect on their lives, measure how far they have come and celebrate their achievements as survivors. The Safe 4 Life course has an impact on all 3 of the Tampon Tax Objectives. Through the course women support each other by talking about their lived experiences, become empowered by the recognition it is not their fault and feel safer because they can identify warning signs of abusive behaviour.
