216 SQUADRON ASSOCIATION

The 216 Squadron Association is established to enabling serving and former members of 216 Squadron to mix together, encouraging esprit de corps and maintaining a living memory of the unit.It aims to look after the welfare of serving and former members and is involved in the commissioning of a memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum to commemorate all those who served on the Squadron.

Objectives

THE 216 SQUADRON ASSOCIATION IS ESTABLISHED TO PROMOTE THE EFFICIENCY OF THE ARMED FORCES BY ENABLING SERVING AND FORMER MEMBERS OF 216 SQUADRON TO MIX TOGETHER, ENCOURAGING ESPRIT DE CORPS AND MAINTAINING A LIVING MEMORY OF THE UNIT. IT AIMS TO LOOK AFTER THE WELFARE OF SERVING AND FORMER MEMBERS THROUGH SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND BEING A FOCAL POINT FOR ANY MEMBERS SUFFERING FINANCIAL OR WELL-BEING HARDSHIP. IT IS ALSO THE LARGEST CIVILIAN REPOSITORY OF SQUADRON HISTORY AND ACTIVELY COLLECTS HISTORICAL RECORDS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND INTERVIEWS FOR SUBMISSION TO THE AIR HISTORICAL BRANCH.IT MAINTAINS MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL LINKS WITH ITS SISTER SQUADRON IN THE AIR CADET ORGANISATION AND IS INVOLVED IN THE COMMISSIONING OF A MEMORIAL AT THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL ARBORETUM TO COMMEMORATE ALL THOSE WHO SERVED AND DIED DURING THE SQUADRONÆS EXISTENCE FROM 1 APRIL 1918.
