THE ALMSPEOPLE SHALL BE PERSONS OF GOOD CHARACTER AND COMMUNICANT MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND OR IN GOOD STANDING OF A CHURCH (NOT IN COMMUNION WITH THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND) WHICH SUBSCRIBES TO THE DOCTRINE OF THE HOLY TRINITY WHO ARE RESIDENT WITHIN A 15 MILE AREA SURROUNDING CHICHESTER (TO BE EXTENDED IN EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES BY THE TRUSTEES ONLY WHERE THE PROPOSED RESIDENT HAS A CONNECTION TO THE LOCALITY THROUGH EITHER FAMILY OR FRIENDS).
