BRITISH SOCIETY FOR RESEARCH ON AGEING

We aim to increase knowledge of the processes, causes and effects of ageing, and means for counteracting these, both in human beings and in other organisms. We provide funding for researchers interested in studying the fundamental biological mechanisms of ageing and we seek to increase the capacity of the UK science and technology base to conduct this and related research over the medium term.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Although this charity works with volunteers it does not have a Volunteer Management policy

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Accounts have been filed late on 3 occasions over the last 5 years and the current period appears to have been extended
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
