THE COTTON TREE TRUST

The charity helps asylum seekers to tell their stories both for therapeutic purposes and to help them with their claims for the right to remain in the UK. It also gives other help with their claims in conjunction with solicitors and immigration advisers, and gives them and other refugees legal and practical advice, help and support in relation to matters other than immigration advice.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • The charity has received backing from several prominent grant makers recently
  • There has been strong growth in spending over the last 5 years
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Financial issues to consider:

  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
