THE ACCOUNTABILITY UNIT

Accountability Unit has four strategic work streams: litigation, advocacy, policy-advice and mentoring. We seek to advance accountability for gender-based rights violations through petitioning legal bodies, raising awareness of gender based harm, harmonising domestic state practice with international obligations, and providing specialist help to lawyers assisting survivors of gender-based harm.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been very successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • There has been strong growth in spending over the last 5 years

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • There are only 2 trustees
  • The Board is completely female
  • The Board composition appears to be very static

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
Established: 8 years
