CAMARA EDUCATION UK LTD

Camara Education's mission is to provide sustainable technology to educate students in Africa. We set up computer labs in schools across Africa and train teachers and local staff to use and maintain them. We also create locally relevant content for students and teachers. We achieve this in part by working with companies to recycle surplus or end-of-life computers and other IT equipment.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • The charity has received modest backing from several prominent grant makers recently
  • There has been reasonable growth in spending over the last 3 years relative to the previous period

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • The Board is predominantly male
  • The Board has little diversity in terms of age

Financial issues to consider:

  • Liquidity appears to have been slender at the latest year end
  • There was a deficit on unrestricted reserves of £43,598 at the last year end after deducting the value of own use assets
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
