THE PEACE MUSEUM

The Peace Museum, in its galleries and travelling exhibitions, tells the stories of peace, peacemakers and the peace movement. Using its collection of over 16,000 artefacts, it engages in educational outreach and promotes peace and justice locally, nationally and internationally through its work with schools, community groups, peace organisations and other peace museums throughout the world.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • There has been strong growth in spending over the last 5 years
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of age and gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • One or more trustees receive payments or benefits from the charity for providing services to the charity
  • There are 14 trustees whereas the Charities Commission recommends a maximum of 12
  • Over half the Board have joined recently

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
