Objectives

1. To be the Diocesan Education Board for the Diocese for the time being of Newcastle (hereinafter called the Diocese) of the Church of England (hereinafter called the Church) and to be the statutory education authority for the Church in the Diocese as required under the Diocesan Boards of Education Measure 2021 and the Education Acts 1944 to 2011 and any statutory modification, amendment, update or replacement thereof respectively.2. To act as the Diocesan Education Board for the purposes of any Act of Parliament or measure passed by the General Synod of the Church for which the Diocesan Synod may appoint the Charity to act.3. To promote or assist in the promotion of the education in the Diocese, being education which is consistent with the faith and practice of the Church of England.4. To promote or assist in the promotion of religious education and religious worship in schools in the Diocese.5. To promote or assist in the promotion of Church Schools in the Diocese and to advise the governors of such schools and trustees of church educational endowments and any other body or person concerned on any matter affecting Church Schools in the Diocese.6. To promote co-operation between the Charity and the bodies or persons concerned in any respect with education in the Diocese.7. To promote or assist in the promotion of children and youth work in the Diocese that is consistent with the faith and practice of the Church.8. To promote co-operation between itself and other persons concerned with children and youth work in the Diocese.9. The functions assigned to the Charity by the Diocesan Boards of Education Measure 2021 (the Measure)10. Such other functions not contrary to this Measure as are assigned to the Charity by the Diocesan Synod other than functions relating to Church Schools or church educational endowments.
