THE ASTOR FOUNDATION

The primary object of the Foundation is medical research in its widest sense with preference given to assistance with launching/initial stages of new projects and filling in shortfalls. Also supported are children & youth groups, disabled, countryside, arts, sport, carers groups and animal welfare. Grants are generally between £250 and £1500, to UK registered charities, not available for salaries.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • The Board appears to be dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • The Board is predominantly male

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
