£3,347	01/04/2020	Funding has been granted by English Heritage to complete the post excavation reporting and publication of the shrunken rural medieval settlement of Eckweek in historic Somerset, now part of Bath and ....more Funding has been granted by English Heritage to complete the post excavation reporting and publication of the shrunken rural medieval settlement of Eckweek in historic Somerset, now part of Bath and NE Somerset (BNES HER 2296). The site was investigated in two seasons between 1988 and 1990 by a team led by Andrew Young with the assistance of Alexander Kidd as part of a project initiated by the former Avon County Council. The fieldwork was supported by the former Manpower Services Commission (ACCES) and included a programme of surveys and excavations undertaken in advance of the construction of the Peasedown St John bypass and associated residential development. The post excavation reporting stage of the project was supported by English Heritage but shelved in 1991 on the demise of Avon County Council, although the project has been worked on intermittently by Andrew Young in the intervening period.
