    The Hospital of St Cross, In Winchester, Hampshire is the oldest almshouse in England. Up to 25 elderly gentlemen live in self-contained accommodation. The public (mediaeval) buildings and the gardens are open to the public throughout the year. The fine transitional Norman Church is the place of worship for the parishioners of St Faith's parish
