THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE:(A) PROVIDED THAT ALL ACTIVITIES SHALL BE BALANCED AND SHALL MAINTAIN OR ENHANCE THE CIO’S COMMITMENT TO REMAINING IMPARTIAL, TO PROMOTE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND RECONCILIATION WITH A VIEW TO RELIEVING SUFFERING, POVERTY AND DISTRESS AND BUILDING AND MAINTAINING SOCIAL COHESION AND TRUST WITHIN AND BETWEEN COMMUNITIES BY:(I) INVESTIGATING AND IDENTIFYING PROBABLE CAUSES OF CONFLICTS;(II) EXAMINING PROBABLE SOLUTIONS TO CONFLICTS THROUGH PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH INTORELEVANT ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL ISSUES;(III) MEDIATING WITH PARTIES TO CONFLICTS AND OTHERS TOGETHER TO DISCUSS SUCH RESEARCH AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS ENABLING THEM TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS OF TRUST; AND(IV) RECOMMENDING TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND THE PARTIES INVOLVED THE MEASURES WHICH, IN THE TRUSTEES’ OPINION, ARE LIKELY TO RESULT IN THE RESOLUTION OFCONFLICTS;(B) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:(I) RESEARCHING INTO THE CAUSES AND/ OR THE HUMAN, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND/ OR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF CONFLICT AND DISSEMINATING THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCHRESEARCH;(II) THE PROVISION, AND THE ASSISTANCE IN THE PROVISION, OF TRAINING FOR PERSONS WHO HAVE THE DESIRE TO DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO MANAGECONFLICT NON-VIOLENTLY;(III) PROVIDING PUBLIC ENGAGEMENTS, SUCH AS KEY NOTE SPEECHES, CONFERENCES, TALKS ANDSEMINARS, AND DELIVERING WORKSHOPS TO RAISE AWARENESS AND INSPIRE PEOPLE TOMANAGE CONFLICTS IN A NON-VIOLENT MANNER; AND(C) THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY BY, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT LIMITED TO, SEEKING TO ELIMINATE DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF GENDER IN RELATION TO WOMEN’S INVOLVEMENT IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION PROCESSES AND ADVANCING AND INCREASING THEIR EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTION TOSUCH PROCESSES.
