HAMLIN FISTULA UK

We support the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia, together with its outreach centres and the Hamlin Midwifery College. In particular we fund the running costs of the Yirgalem outreach centre. We contribute to the cost of medical and other requirements ordered directly by the hospital staff.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has a robust balance sheet
  • There has been reasonable growth in spending over the last 3 years relative to the previous period
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of age and dynamic in terms of composition

Financial issues to consider:

  • Liquidity appeared to be in excess of CC guidelines at the latest year end but spending has been increasing rapidly
  • There has been a change of accounting period recently, so trends may be hard to determine
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
  • Fundraising costs are high relative to funds raised
