(1) THE OBJECT OF THE CHARITY IS TO RELIEVE NEED, HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS AMONGCLERGY AND LICENSED LAY WORKERS WHO RESIDE OR SERVE IN OR WHO HAVE RESIDED ORSERVED IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT AND AMONG PERSONS WHO ARE DEPENDANT RELATIVESOF OR WHO HAVE ACTED AS HOUSEKEEPERS TO ANY MEMBER OF THE CLERGY ORLICENSED LAY WORKER WHO IS OR WAS QUALIFIED AS AFORESAID.(2) IF AND IN SO FAR AS THE INCOME OF THE CHARITY CANNOT BE APPLIED TOWARDS THEOBJECT ABOVE IT MAY BE APPLIED IN FURTHERING THE RELIGIOUS AND OTHER CHARITABLEWORK OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT.
