Objectives

3.1 to promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and an appreciation of the art of drama and other associated performing arts in all their respective aspects;3.2 in the interests of social welfare to provide facilities by way of a building and to maintain its use for the inhabitants of Colchester and its surrounding villages and neighbourhood for the purposes of the furtherance and promotion of amateur theatre, educational drama and other associated performing arts, such building to be used predominantly by amateur organisations;3.3 to offer opportunities and facilities to teachers of drama and the arts to practice their vocational activities in Colchester and elsewhere in Colchester and the environs;3.4 to advance education by such means as the Trustees think fit by encouraging the general public, particularly those in Colchester and the surrounding area, schools, special interest groups, people with disabilities and the disadvantaged to take an active interest in a wide variety of theatre, drama and the arts generally;3.5 in the interests of social welfare, to provide or to assist in the provision of facilities in Colchester or within the surrounding area for recreation; other leisure-time occupations; and the advancement of health, education, citizenship and community development within the meaning of the Charities Act 20113.6 such other charitable purposes as the Trustees shall see fit as being for the general promotion of theatre and the arts in Colchester and the surrounding area
