THE SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL EDUCATION TRUST

Using the cathedral as a unique living resource, the education centre seeks to help teachers cover a range of national curriculum subjects in imaginative ways. This is accomplished by offering experience based trails and workshops.Visitors are made to feel welcome and accepted and shown that the cathedral is an active centre of worship and pilgrimage for Christians.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of gender

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Spending has fallen significantly over the last 5 years relative to the previous period
  • Income has been volatile and on several occasions in recent years less than spending
