The project aims to improve mental and physical health and reduce isolation amongst vulnerable people in the area. Through early intervention and prevention, the project will help improve quality of life and self-management. Activities will include helping individuals register and make appointments with GPs, support and explain early diagnosis and interventions and where applicable end-of-life care. They also run a memory café, and will continue to work with medical practitioners to enhance the delivery.

This project aims to help non-English speaking Chinese people in Oxfordshire who have little or no formal education and are confined to low-skilled and low-paid work or unemployment to overcome language and knowledge barriers and integrate into their communities. This grant will continue to support access to mainstream services and training opportunities, while focusing on further developing its accredited entry level programmes, delivering a range of training in ESOL, basic skills and IT training.

This expanding project will address physical and mental health needs identified with non-English speaking vulnerable Chinese people, supporting beneficiaries across Oxfordshire, Aylesbury, Reading and Wokingham to access essential services. Due to the language barrier many Chinese people suffer social isolation and slow or non diagnosis of illness. Bilingual advice, interpretation, advocacy, health activities and education will help to improve lifestyles and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
