42nd Street has been developing our learning and revising our response to trauma following the MEN arena attack on May 22nd 2017. We need to strengthen and structure the peer support offer available to vulnerable young women that have experienced trauma in Greater Manchester. The Charity believes that genuine participatory approaches involving peer support and peer leadership contribute to improved recovery and well-being by providing young people with a safe environment to voice their concerns, raise issues and problem solve, whilst connecting with people with similar experiences, shaping their support and developing new life skills.The peer support group will target 16- 25 year old young women experiencing mental health issues as a result of trauma at this particularly difficult transition time into young adulthood and adult services. Our research shows that many young women who have experienced trauma experience considerable feelings of isolation and loneliness at this time and they are asking for opportunities for a safe environment where they can meet with their peers, share their experiences and find and offer support.By securing funding for this group we will be able to employ dedicated staff to develop peer leadership, support the group and form stronger partnerships with women's groups across Greater Manchester. We will then be able to develop and implement a clear and structured peer support programme shaped by the young women's own experience and choices including employing volunteer peer leaders so that the group can be self sustaining and young person-centred into the future

Gift Shop offers young people aged 16- 25 in the local community the opportunity to explore ideas around wellbeing, what makes them feel good and how this can be translated into developing self- care and gifts for themselves and others. Young people will take part in a series of workshops across locations in Trafford and will create a Trafford Gift Shop; a pop up shop/ stall full of useful and beautiful handmade goods on offer to the public all with the aim of improving wellbeing. The project will also offer more intensive skills development to a self- selecting core froup of young people over the two years.

42nd Street will work in Greater Manchester with Survivors Manchester and TIPP, to co-create short films with young black men aged 16-20 who are in the criminal justice system. The films will then drive 2 significant changes: one engaging more young black men in therapeutic support, and the other driving system change to make mental health services more accessible for these young men. Young black men do not access support early enough; they are under-represented in child and adolescent mental health services and over represented in the adult system. The grant will pay for workers to directly support the young men, the costs of creating films with the young people and an external evaluation.

This project will support the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people directly and indirectly affected by the Manchester Arena attack on the 22nd May 2017. It will support and bring together the wider community to better respond to the needs of young people who are distressed following a traumatic experience. 42nd Street will do this by sharing their expertise and partnering with targeted grass-roots organisations who have strong relationships with their local communities and young people.

They will engage with young adults directly and discuss options in terms of accessing wider services across Manchester. The practitioner will also visit community groups to promote the suite of IAPT services available to young adults across Manchester
