Central to this will be a cascading legacy of socially-distanced and ....more MKCDC has received Historic England Covid-19 Resilience Grant funding to deliver a series of innovative and spectacular digital heritage experiences for existing and new audiences. Central to this will be a cascading legacy of socially-distanced and digital community heritage training, activities, and methodologies. At the heart of this will be a newly-commissioned Medieval Mystery Play for Milton Keynes, performed on a wagon by the Bradwell Abbey Players (who will be established as part of this project), which will lead to a legacy of a new and growing Mystery Cycle for Milton Keynes, performed bi-annually as part of the Milton Keynes History Festival by multiple groups (cultural, faith, guild, multi-cultural, community and so on, in keeping with the original Mystery paly ethos). This part of the project will feed into and be fed from our current Milton Keynes New Pilgrim Tales and Trails Trail project, and will seek and source a pageant-style wagon so that the play/s can be performed in medieval style around the Abbey, along the newly-formed Bradwell Abbey Pilgrim Trail, and around Milton Keynes.
