Foster carers and their families will also be supported in relation to the termination of a placement. During the two year project the group will work with 120 children and families and 15 volunteers across Scotland.

Investing over £17 million into innovation projects to help keep families safe.Successful local authorities will be supported to embed one of three models: Family Drug and Alcohol Courts (FDACs), a programme known as Family Group Conferencing, and The Mockingbird Family Model.We want every child to have the best start in life, with the opportunities and the stability to fulfil their potential, which is why we are testing the impact that these models can have in improving outcomes for children and families and are funding further trials through the Supporting Families: Investing Practice programme.This work will provide us with evidence of how effective these models are and will be evaluated by What Works for Children's Social Care.

The five-year Step Up, Step Down project supports children in the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust care system to stay in their own homes. Four trained and experienced foster carers are working with families in their homes to establish routines, promote healthy eating and playing, and support them to learn and achieve things together. The project will work to ensure that if there is a crisis situation, the child would stay temporarily with the foster-carer they know.
