THE RENEGADES

The Renegades exists to actively engage and support children aged 10-18 in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Our mission is to deliver the most creative, inspirational and child-focused youth club in the UK. The children enjoy what they are doing and have fun, take part in activities indoors and outdoors, learn by doing and take responsibility.

Each session ....more A project to purchase 3 canoes and safety equipment to coach 30 disadvantaged young people led by a British Canoeing Paddle Sport Instructor with 3 volunteer qualified canoe leaders. Each session will be 1 coach and 3 volunteers for 12 pairs of participants benefitting up to 40 people in rotation. It will include transport to Wey and Arun Canal Trust locations, canoe transport, handling and entry in and out of the water, kit station set up, vests/buoyancy aids, paddling techniques, water safety/ survival and developing existing carpentry skills to fix and maintain equipment, measurement, evaluation and promotion. Two overnight expeditions will involve using canoes / tents as shelter, leadership and instruction skills. Four participants will undertake Paddle Sports Instructor Qualifications to take over future project delivery. The aim is to improve mental and physical well-being, raise aspirations and self-sufficiency, emphasize environmental sustainability, improve life skills and employability.
