PROJECT 21

Project 21 is an innovative charity running activities, clubs and events for people with Down's Syndrome in the East of England. We pride ourselves on giving the Down's Syndrome Community a platform to express themselves and a voice in society. We believe our events promote confidence, independence and a wider, positive awareness of Down's Syndrome within our community.

Costs covered include staff salaries and running costs for the activities Project 21 provides. This will ensure that the organisation is able to retain and recruit trained qualified staff to continue to lead the activities. Previous activities have included clubbing movie nights karaoke and meals at local pubs and places of their choice. The trip will take place in July 2022 in Cornwall and will be offered to 16-20 members with DS supported by staff. This tript will enable the young adults to experience some independence and have a holiday of their choice with friends. They will grow in confidence self esteem and create meaningful memories experiencing something that none of them have done before.

THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS:THE PROMOTION OF SOCIAL INCLUSION AND RELIEF OF NEED FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AMONG PEOPLE WITH DOWN’S SYNDROME (AND THEIR FAMILIES) WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED ON THE GROUNDS OF THEIR DISABILITY, BY PROVIDING:• INFORMATION AND BESPOKE ACTIVITIES TAILORED TO SUPPORT AND ENABLE PEOPLE WITH DOWN’S SYNDROME (AND THEIR FAMILIES) TO MAXIMISE SOCIALISATION AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WHILST RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE ISSUES AFFECTING PEOPLE WITH DOWN’S SYNDROME BOTH GENERALLY AND IN RELATION TO THEIR SOCIAL EXCLUSION;• PROVIDING WORKSHOPS, CLUBS, EVENTS, ACTIVITIES, ADVOCACY AND A GENERAL SUPPORT NETWORK;• PROVIDING RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH DOWN’S SYNDROME; AND• ANY OTHER MEANS AS THE TRUSTEES IN THEIR DISCRETION SHALL DETERMINE.
