The funding will enable Growing Together Levenshulme to support refugees and asylum seekers from across Greater Manchester. Emotional and practical support will be provided through case work and therapeutic gardening sessions at their allotment site in Levenshulme in Manchester. This aims to improve participants' mental and physical health reduce isolation improve English skills and increase confidence. The organisation delivers gardening sessions through which participants plant nurture and harvest vegetables fruits and flowers create wildlife areas and maintain the allotment known as ‘the garden’. They create opportunities for participants to build a community of peer support and provide holistic casework support at and beyond the garden including signposting/referring to specialist services as needed and providing direct practical and emotional support to participants.
