The project aims to promote opportunities to learn and develop new skills, increase confidence and wellbeing, as well as creating stronger social links to improve participants’ sense of belonging. It does this through a range of activities including weekly steelpan music workshops, fortnightly focus groups, intergenerational cultural events and fortnightly youth sessions.

£38,570	29/04/2021 24	This two-year project supports the African-Caribbean and Indian-Caribbean community in the Castlefield and Downley areas of High Wycombe who have been particularly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. ....more This two-year project supports the African-Caribbean and Indian-Caribbean community in the Castlefield and Downley areas of High Wycombe who have been particularly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Using steelpan instruments the project brings young people and the older generation together for intergenerational activities weekly and fortnightly music workshops. There are also a series of community conversations to give residents a voice in order to challenge access to services, discrimination and influence positive community action and change. Bi-monthly focused groups create a space for testimonies, sharing experiences and healing. Participants learn and develop new skills and increase their confidence and wellbeing, tackling anxiety, isolation, depression, and other mental health issues which have increased during the pandemic.
