The fund has been set up to support community projects which reduce knife crime and have a positive impact on young people at risk of carrying a knife and committing crime. Bids have been assessed on the extent to which they provide value for money and demonstrate, based on their understanding of knife crime in the local area, that they will achieve at least one of the following key aims:Â? Prevent young people from becoming involved in carrying a knifeÂ? Respond to knife crime in our communitiesÂ? Improve support for knife crime offenders and offer an effective exit strategyÂ? Increase reporting of knife carryingÂ? Help young people to deal with conflict without resorting to violenceÂ? Support the siblings of young people involved in or at risk of involvement in knife violenceÂ? Build our understanding of the drivers behind knife crimeÂ? Build our understanding of how to prevent young people from carrying knives

This project aims to empower 1,000 young people aged 8 – 21 within the Anson Estate in Manchester through a programme of support and personal development activities. A new youth curriculum, delivered with support from young people, will address issues such as personal safety, relationships, bulling, substance use and discrimination, and young people not in education, employment or training will have support with CV writing and developing professional skills.
